FYNEST / INSIGHTS

Why do visits fail to become relevant enquiries?

The cause may sit before, on or after the website: audience, messaging, usability and sales follow-up need to be examined together.

PUT IT TO WORK

Assess an enquiry together.

01

Fit

Does the company fit our audience?

02

Need

What specific problem is being described?

03

Offer

Can our offer address that need?

04

Next step

What useful step can sales take next?

Four questions for marketing and sales, without a generic lead score.

Describe the symptom precisely.

“Our website generates no leads” can mean different things: nobody submits the form, submissions fail to arrive, or contacts do not fit the offer. These problems need different responses. Separate visits, confirmed receipt, qualification and subsequent sales progression.

Agree with sales what makes an enquiry relevant. Company type, a specific need and a sensible next step are possible criteria. A missing required detail does not automatically make a contact useless; a completed form does not establish qualified demand.

Causes before, on and after the website.

Before the website, consider audience and expectations: does the campaign reach decision makers with a relevant need? On the site, offer clarity, relevant evidence and an understandable contact route matter. Afterwards, delivery, ownership and follow-up affect whether a conversation happens.

Avoid changing campaign, offer, form and sales process simultaneously without documentation. Otherwise the relationship between changes and outcomes becomes unclear. Start with an evidenced problem and record other influences.

Review the enquiry journey systematically.

Follow a specific ad or search query through to receipt in the responsible inbox or CRM. Check desktop and mobile, required fields, error messages and failed delivery. A visible thank-you message is insufficient if the backend has not confirmed receipt.

Then compare source, landing page and enquiry quality. Watch for small samples and unreviewed contacts. A handful of poor enquiries does not justify a blanket conclusion about a channel. Sales conversations can reveal which expectations were formed incorrectly.

Example: mistaken expectations about the offer.

Hypothetical scenario: an ad promotes a free analysis, but the landing page offers only a short introduction. The form works, yet calls begin with disappointment over scope. A shorter form would not solve this problem.

The change would be a consistent description of the call’s duration, content and outcome. Afterwards, observe expectations and enquiry suitability. This illustrates a diagnostic method, not a measured FYNEST client case.

What should change first?

Fix technical barriers and misleading promises first. Then prioritise missing information and unnecessary input friction using evidence. Assign an owner, expected effect and check to each change. This keeps the list actionable rather than a collection of disconnected ideas.

A useful review cycle connects campaign evaluation, page changes and sales feedback. More submissions represent progress only when quality and handling requirements fit the business objective.
